Spring Discovery Day

Today was Discovery Day. All the activities were about Spring. Some of the Room 16 children came to help us. We had heaps of things to do. We could make: grass men, pinecone bird feeders, rainbows, clouds and rainbows, caterpillars, butterflies, birds in nests, birds hatching from their eggs, paper plate birds, sheep, blossom trees and lots more. Here are some pictures of us making things and showing what we made. It was a fun morning. We love Discovery Day.

Lego challenge

Yesterday Room 5 visited our classroom. We had a Lego challenge. We had to get 20 pieces of Lego and then we had 5 minutes to make a robot with the 20 pieces. Anson (from Room 5) and Dani (from Room 4) were the judges. In the photos you can see us hard at work constructing our robots and then holding the finished product.

Winter Warmers with Tararua Library

Last Term we did the Winter Warmers programme through the Town Library. We had to read library books and do an activity about it in a special book that Nikki gave us. We really enjoyed the books and doing the activities. Nikki came to school yesterday and gave all of us a chapter book that we can keep. We also got a certificate and because we did wonderful activities in our booklet we got a Warehouse voucher for $10. That was amazing and we were excited for the rest of the day. Thank you Nikki and the Tararua Library.
Here we are with our new books and Nikki from the Town Library.

Grandparent's Concert

On Thursday  28th August and Friday 29th August Team 1 and 2 invited their grandparents to a concert. Each room put on an item. Room 4's item was 'Captain Quake and Boss Bird' written by Jill Eggleton. We enjoyed being sailors on Captain Quake's ship. Some of us to 'clean the decks', some had to 'mend the sails' and the rest had to 'fix the ropes'.  Ryder and D'rhyas were Captain Quake and Riley was Boss Bird. When the concert was over our grandparents came to our classroom and had their photos taken with us. Our grandparents loved our concert and between them all they donated $1,600 for new library books. Thank you Grandparents.
Riley was Boss Bird and she is squawking to let Captain Quake know that the sailors are not doing their job.

These sailors are meant to be mending the sails but they are rolling in the ropes.

These sailors are meant to be fixing the ropes but they are skipping with the ropes.

Captain Quake is crying because he thought that Boss Bird was dead.

These sailors are meant to be cleaning the deck but they are dancing with the buckets and brooms.
